In the varied area of Graphic and Visual Arts, we offer numerous courses for students interested in 2D and 3D Mediums, Graphic Design, Video Media, Advanced Multi-Media, Photography, and Yearbook Production.

Graphic Design

Students learn the principles of design and explore typography and color while incorporating hands-on computer software technology. 

Photo Illustration

Students learn the fundamentals of photography and composition utilizing SLR digital cameras. They also incorporate Photoshop techniques to illustrate conceptual themes through their work.

Yearbook/Journalism

Students learn the rules of professional journalism, photograph student events, and become familiar with publishing software. Students also learn the necessity of meeting deadlines and maintaining a budget while producing the Yearbook.

Portfolio Show

Graphic Art students have the opportunity to exhibit their work in the annual Spring Portfolio Show.

Visual Art

CVCA’s middle school Visual Arts program is an overview course designed to allow each student to explore a variety of media, techniques, and methods.

In high school, opportunities are available for students interested in both 2D and 3D mediums, ranging in level from beginner to advanced. Courses include:

  • Drawing and Painting
  • Clay and Sculpture
  • Fiber Arts and Textiles
  • Honors Art 2D and 3D

All CVCA Art students exhibit their work in our annual Spring Portfolio Show which draws crowds from both CVCA and the local community.
