Grandparents Days – November 25 and 26

Grandparents Days is next week! If your student’s grandparent still has not registered yet, please do so today. Register HERE

Middle School Play

On November 22 and 23, the middle school theatre has returned presenting Disney’s The Lion King Kids. Shows are at 7:00 p.m. (doors open at 6:30) with general admission seating. Tickets may be purchased HERE.

Enrolling a New student? Don’t Wait!

If your family is interested in adding siblings to CVCA next year, please begin the process right away as we continue to see increased interest in applications for new students. Round one of the application season will be closing on December 1. Current families do not need to re-apply due to our Continuous Enrollment Agreement. 

Student Instructions for Grandparents Day Delayed Start – November 25-26

Grandparents Days are Monday and Tuesday, November 25-26. We will have a delayed start school schedule on both days with classes beginning at 9:22 a.m. If you do not have a grandparent attending and you arrive before 9:22, please go to the Learning Commons. For students with grandparents coming, please plan to arrive to school at 7:30 a.m. Grandparents Days will start in the Royals Fieldhouse. 

Urban Vision School-wide Christmas Service Project

We are excited to begin our Urban Vision Christmas Store Service Project. To participate, please bring one of the items listed below. CVCA Houses and the Middle School will earn prizes for collecting items. Students can bring their items to school Monday, December 2 through Thursday, December 5. Boxes for each of the four Houses will be at the Welcome Center lobby. Middle School boxes will be in their respective halls. 

  • 6th Grade: Puzzles, Hello Kitty Toys, Playdough Sets, Nail Polish Kits
  • 7th Grade: Princess Dolls, Barbie Dolls, Action Figure Dolls, Small/Medium Lego Sets
  • 8th Grade: Stuffed Animals, Pop Fidget Accessories, Sketchbook & Markers, Art Sets, Craft Sets
  • Douglass House: Kids Watches, Card Games, Skin Care Products, Hair Clips/Ties, Journaling Set
  • Elliot House: Graphic Arts Markers and Paper, Loom Band Kits, Jewelry Kits, Lysol Wipes

Congratulations ILab Competition Winner

Michael Fazio is our iLAB 3D Design and Print Competition winner! His winning design, the “Fazwedge,” clicks in place on the door and keeps it from locking shut without the need for a traditional doorstop on the floor. We’ll be able to see them at work around the school as teachers get their own Fazwedge for their classrooms.

Success for The Talking Royals

The Talking Royals had another successful tournament, at Copley. The team was led by Katie Siff, who took 6th place in United States Extemporaneous Speaking, and Jude Armstrong, who went undefeated in a Lincoln-Douglas debate and, after a complex set of tiebreakers, took 6th place out of 74 competitors.

MIDDLE-SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

8th Grade Jterm Registration REQuired – November 22 Deadline

Registration is now open for our 8th-grade Jterm experience, Prepare to Believe. The registration deadline is November 22. Prepare to Believe is a life-impacting trip where students experience the Ark Encounter, Creation Museum, Newport Aquarium, National Museum of the US Air Force, and more!

HIGH-SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

SOD Applications for Sophomores – deadline Today

CVCA’s Schools of Distinction are an elective program introducing students to career fields in one of six areas: Arts & Humanities (SOAH), Business & Entrepreneurship (SOBE), Engineering (SOE), Medical Professions (SOMP), Ministry (SOM,) and Computer Science (SOCS). More information and an application for each SOD program can be found on the CVCA website HERE. There is a $300 annual fee for participation in any School of Distinction. The SOD online applications are open through Monday, November 18, 2024.

Students may apply to enter an SOD in the Fall of their sophomore year. Students are not required to apply to a School of Distinction; it is an opportunity for students interested in the career cluster represented by each school.

First DR Trip Meeting – November 21

The first DR Trip meeting for the Class of 2026 will be on Thursday, November 21, 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the Learning Commons. Dinner will be provided. The $200 trip deposit should be paid HERE before this meeting.

Destination HBCU College Fair – Saturday, November 23, 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

West Point Information Meeting – November 24

The United States Military Academy at West Point offers unique educational opportunities and leadership development. If you are interested in West Point and would like to learn more about how they empower students to become leaders of character, equipped with the skills and values to excel in any field, plan to attend an Information Meeting on Sunday, November 24, 2:30-3:30 p.m., at the North Royalton Branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library (5071 Wallings Rd, North Royalton, OH 44133-3131). The support is available to ensure students’ academic and personal growth. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about West Point’s commitment to academic excellence, their application process, and critical factors for student success. Register HERE

Grandparents Day Volunteers Needed – November 25 and 26

We are looking forward to Grandparents Day at CVCA on November 25 and 26, and need your help. Please fill out THIS FORM if you are able to help volunteer on one or both days. Thank you for helping us create a memorable day for our cherished grandparents!

  • Monday, 6:45 to approximately 9:00 a.m.: Assist with check-in/registration, assist at the gift table, help turn over the Fieldhouse with new tablecloths and settings for Tuesday
  • Tuesday, 6:45 to approximately 9:00 a.m.: Assist with check-in/registration, assist at the gift table, tear down tables and chairs in the Fieldhouse
  • Both days at 6:45 a.m.: Parking lot assistance

Moms in Prayer

Moms in Prayer is a great way to connect with other CVCA moms, pray for our school and community, and get engaged with the school in a deeper way. Moms in Prayer meets every Friday from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. in the Athletics Conference Room. (Meet at the Welcome Center at 7:55 a.m.)Whether you can participate one time, once a month, or every week, you are welcome. For those who can’t meet in person at that time, you can receive a weekly email to pray from home. Email momsinprayer@cvcaroyals.org for more information or to join the weekly email group.

Winter Sports Registration

Winter Sports are right around the corner. Be sure you have registered in FinalForms if you plan to participate in a winter sport this year. Now is the time to check your sport registration, complete your pre-participation paperwork, and submit a current sports physical. Visit cvca-oh.finalforms.com to access your account.
