SCHOOL-WIDE

Your first Royal Weekly of the 2024-2025 school year is here! Published each Monday, this newsletter provides the latest CVCA news, event details, and announcements for both parents and students. For your convenience, past issues of the Royal Weekly are available on the MY CVCA page of our school website. As school is quickly approaching, there are plenty of important items to share, so please take a few minutes to read through today’s post.

Class schedules will be available on Monday, August 5 through your Family Portal.

We are looking forward to meeting all of our new students and parents at Orientation on Wednesday, August 7 at 6:30 p.m. The evening will include:

  • A time of worship and dedication of the school year
  • A chance to pick up Chromebooks
  • Walk class schedules (schedules available August 5 – please bring a copy)
  • Set up locker and put supplies away
  • Meet many of your teachers
  • Purchase CVCA apparel
  • Speak with the Athletic Office staff
  • Meet other new families
  • Q & A time

All of our students will be celebrating the return to school with class retreats to Camp Carl. These are great times to grow as a class, have some fun, and welcome new students. Families will receive emails soon with all the details.

  • Grade 6 – Ignition – August 12-13
  • Grade 7 – JumpStart – August 13-15
  • Grade 8 – Launch Point – August 15-16
  • Grade 9 – Froshfest – August 19
  • Grade 10-11 – Fall Fest – August 20
  • Grade 12 – Senior Retreat – August 18-20

Did you get your back-to-school email? It provides all the information you need about uniforms, school supplies, summer assignments, and more. Check it out HERE.

All student drivers are required to register their car in the Main Office. Permits are available for $120. More Information can be found HERE.

At least one parent and every student should read the Student/Parent Handbook. Signature pages need to be submitted to first period teachers by August 15. Log in to Family Portal, then go to “School” (on left) and click on “Resource Documents.” You will find the Student/Parent Handbook and Signature Page under “Newsletter Archives” on the right side.  Per our policy: Students will not be permitted to attend classes beginning August 16 if this form remains unsigned. A student is able to return after they have read through the Handbook and turned in the Signature Page.

As we prepare for the start of school, here are some reminders to help you navigate student drop-off and pick-up times. Please be patient as we all work to manage traffic flow. It will improve over the next couple of weeks as everyone falls into a routine.

Before School:

  • Students may arrive at school as early as 7:15 a.m. ALL students arriving between 7:15 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. should arrive at the Royals Fieldhouse entrance. No other doors will be open before 7:30.
  • If at all possible, students should arrive between 7:30 and 7:45 a.m. and proceed directly to their first class of the day. All entrances will be open to students at 7:30 a.m.
  • Students should be dropped off at the following doors between 7:30 and 7:50 a.m. – the Learning Commons, the Rasnick Center, and the Middle School Entrance.
  • Please do not drop off students at the main entrance after 7:25 a.m. as this space is reserved for school buses.

After School:

  • Students may be picked up at the same doors where they were dropped off.
  • For the safety of all students, it is critical that families pick up students as close to the 2:50 dismissal time as possible. If a student does not have an extracurricular practice, meeting, or rehearsal, they need to leave campus.
  • In order for thorough cleaning to occur each afternoon, the building needs to be clear of students by 3:05 p.m.
  • Between 2:50 and 3:05 p.m. students are encouraged to transition to their after-school practice or leave campus immediately at 2:50.
  • General supervision will not be provided after 2:50 p.m. Students involved in athletics, fine arts, and other after-school activities are under the supervision of coaches, sponsors, etc.

Our first week of school will consist of five 8-period days. We will have a late start on Wednesday, August 16 (followed by periods 1-8). There will be no Chapel or House meetings on Thursday. Block periods for Wednesday/Thursday and House/Chapel gatherings will start the second week of school.

Junior Royals and CVCA Summer Camp families are invited to a Big Tent Event on Friday, August 30 in the Royals Fieldhouse. Enjoy an evening of fun and football with carnival games, inflatables, treats, face painting, and more. Register HERE.

Not already a Junior Royal. Join today to take advantage of all the offerings for our youngest Royals! Learn more HERE.

The Royal Theatre will hold its season announcement meeting after school on August 21 from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel. All are welcome to come learn about The Royal Theatre, what we do, students involvement opportunities, and what shows we’ll be doing this year!

All CVCA parents are encouraged to attend this informative evening to meet your student’s teachers who will present overviews of their curriculum and classroom procedures. Although there is not time during Back-to-School Night for lengthy individual conversations, teachers will be happy to answer general questions regarding their objectives and goals.

You will follow an abbreviated version of your student’s class schedule. Please have your student fill out his/her Monday class schedule or download a copy from Family Portal (RenWeb) and bring it with you. We will start with first period at 7:00 p.m.

We look forward to seeing you as we get the school year off to a great start!
