SCHOOL-WIDE ANNOUNCEMENTS

Jterm – January 6-10

High school morning, afternoon, and all-day classes – 7:50 a.m. to 2:50 p.m.

  • Morning Session: 7:50 a.m. to 10:50 a.m.
  • Afternoon Session: 11:50 a.m. to 2:50 p.m.
  • All-day Session: 7:50 a.m. to 2:50 p.m.
  • Lunch: 10:50 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. – Students may bring lunch or purchase at school. Students are not permitted to leave campus during lunch unless accompanied by a parent who has secured permission and signed their student out.

6th Grade – Excelerate – Look for an email from the 6th grade team with specific details. 

  • Tuesday, January 7 – Cleveland Science Center, drop off at 7:50 a.m. We will return to CVCA by 2:45 p.m.
  • Wednesday, January 8 – Rec Center, drop off at 7:50 a.m. We will return to CVCA by 12:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, January 9 – Cleveland History Museum, drop off at 7:50 a.m. We will return to CVCA by 2:30 p.m. 

7th Grade – Elevate at Camp Carl – Look for an email from the 7th grade team with specific details. 

  • Wednesday, January 8 – Students should be dropped off at Royals Fieldhouse entrance by 3:00 p.m. Registration begins at 2:30 p.m.
  • Friday, January 10 – Return to school at 4:15 p.m. Pick-up will be at the front of the school. 

8th Grade – Prepare to Believe – Look for an email from the 8th grade team with specific details. 

  • Monday, January 6 – 7:50 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. – At-school – Half-day orientation for trip
  • Tuesday, January 7 – Load buses at 7:50 a.m. for trip to Dayton, Cincinnati, and Northern Kentucky
  • Thursday, January 9 – Return to CVCA at 5:30 p.m. Pick up will be at the front of the school. 

Absence/Tardy/Early Dismissal Reporting

In order to efficiently process school attendance records and ensure accuracy, starting January 13th all families will need to notify the Administration of all participate absences by using the School Messenger app, web portal, or phone line.

  • Phone calls and emails to the Main Office will be redirected to the School Messenger platform.
  • For students requesting late arrival or early dismissal privileges, a parent or guardian must fill out this Google Form.

Tenth Annual SOBE Business Pitch Night – January 23

Come support the SOBE seniors as teams present innovative ideas and students present startup plans to a panel of SOBE alumni judges and compete for cash prizes! The event will be on Thursday, January 23, 5:00-8:00 p.m. (Doors Open at 4:30) in the Anne Tell Chapel. Reserve your free tickets HERE. (Walk-ins are also welcome.) 

Academic Challenge Takes Tenth Place in National Tournament

In early December, the Academic Challenge students participated in a national online competition called the 30-20-10. Both the middle school and high school teams did well, with the high school team finishing in tenth place out of 289 schools. Congratulations to all the participants!

Junior Royals Hockey Night – February 1

It’s a Great Day For Hockey! Join us for our Third Annual Junior Royals Hockey Night at the Dan Kostel Recreation Center (5411 Turney Rd, Cleveland, OH 44125) on Saturday, February 1.

  • 4:00 p.m. – Junior Royals Check-in Begins
  • 4:30 p.m. – Senior Night Recognition
  • 5:00 p.m. – CVCA Hockey Game vs. Kenston
  • Junior Royals FREE Open Skate with the CVCA Hockey Team after the game (skate rentals available FREE of charge)

High School Girls Retreat – February 7-8

All high school girls are invited to an overnight retreat on February 7-8, 2025 to focus on studying God’s Word and to learn about accountability, solitude, and reprioritizing our lives around Christ and His call. Lunch with Grand Canyon University Rep – January 15

Sophmores and juniors are invited to meet Bronwyn Tucker from Grand Canyon University who will be here on January 15 during both lunches in Room 99. Please bring your lunch and learn about what GCU has to offer. They give a large amount of scholarships to CVCA students and have some amazing opportunities. Juniors you may apply to GCU after this meeting and get the process started for your free fly out in the fall of your senior year. Register for the lunch meeting HERE. Questions? Student class schedules for second semester can now be viewed through the Family Portal. Students, please take a look at your schedule and if you have any questions, reach out to your grade-level school counselor.

ATHLETICS UPDATES

Girls Soccer Mandatory Meeting – January 15

All girls in grades 8-11 who are interested in playing soccer next fall should attend a mandatory meeting on Wednesday, January 15 at 3:00 p.m. in the Middle School Hallway.
