Retreat Week

All of our students will be celebrating the return to school with class retreats to Camp Carl. These are great times to grow as a class, have some fun, and welcome new students. Emails have been sent to families with all the details. Please make sure your permission slips/registration forms are complete!

SENIOR RETREATOur team is looking forward to spending time with our seniors this weekend and early next week at Camp Carl. As we prepare for the overnight retreat, we want to remind you of a few important details:

  • Seniors will arrive via their own transportation at Camp Carl (8054 Calvin Road, Ravenna, OH 44266) by 5:30 p.m. Sunday night. On Monday, students who need to leave for practices can do so at 2:00 p.m., but are then asked to return to camp for Monday night. Retreat activities will conclude by 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, and all students will depart from Camp Carl.
  • Both students and parents have received emails containing permission forms that MUST be submitted by Wednesday, August 16.
  • We look forward to seeing our seniors on Sunday, August 20 to kick off this Senior Retreat!

FALLFEST RETREATS – Our team is looking forward to spending time with our tenth and eleventh graders next week at Camp Carl. As we prepare for this important retreat, we want to remind you of a few important details:

  • FallFest will take place at Camp Carl (8054 Calvin Road, Ravenna, OH 44266) on Tuesday, August 22, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Transportation needs and expectations vary. If you are a sophomore (or a junior who needs school transportation), plan to be at the school by 8:00 a.m., ready to depart. Retreat activities will conclude by 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday when all students will leave from Camp Carl.
  • Both students and parents have received emails containing permission forms that MUST be submitted by Tuesday, August 15.
  • We look forward to seeing our students at FallFest!

FROSHFEST RETREAT – Our team is looking forward to welcoming our new freshmen next week at Camp Carl. As we prepare for this wonderful event, we want to remind you of a few important details:

  • On Monday, August 21, plan to be at the school by 8:00 a.m., ready to depart for Camp Carl (8054 Calvin Road, Ravenna, OH 44266). Retreat activities will conclude by 2:00 p.m. on Monday when all students will leave from Camp Carl. Plan to be at CVCA for pick-up by 2:45 p.m.
  • Both students and parents have received emails containing permission forms that MUST be submitted by Tuesday, August 15.
  • We look forward to seeing our students at FroshFest!

Parking Passes

All student drivers are required to register their car in the Main Office. Permits are available for $100. More Information can be found HERE.

STUDENT/PARENT HANDBOOK – READ BY AUGUST 15

At least one parent and every student should read the Student/Parent Handbook. Signature pages need to be submitted to first period teachers by Tuesday, August 15. Log in to Family Portal, then go to “School” (on left) and click on “Resource Documents.” You will find the Student/Parent Handbook and Signature Page under “Newsletter Archives” on the right side. Per our policy: Students will not be permitted to attend classes beginning August 16 if this form remains unsigned. A student is able to return after they have read through the Handbook and turned in the Signature Page.

Pick-up and Drop-off Reminders

As we prepare for the start of school, here are some reminders to help you navigate student drop-off and pick-up times. Please be patient as we all work to manage traffic flow. It will improve over the next couple of weeks as everyone falls into a routine.

 

Before School: 

  • Students may arrive at school as early as 7:15 a.m. ALL students arriving between 7:15 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. should arrive at the Royals Fieldhouse entrance. No other doors will be open before 7:30.
  • If at all possible, students should arrive between 7:30 and 7:45 a.m. and proceed directly to their first class of the day. All entrances will be open to students at 7:30 a.m.
  • Students should be dropped off at the following doors between 7:30 and 7:50 a.m. – the Learning Commons, the Rasnick Center, and the Middle School Entrance.
  • Please do not drop off students at the main entrance after 7:25 a.m. as this space is reserved for school buses.

After School:

  • Students may be picked up at the same doors where they were dropped off.
  • For the safety of all students, it is critical that families pick up students as close to the 2:50 dismissal time as possible. If a student does not have an extracurricular practice, meeting, or rehearsal, they need to leave campus.
  • In order for thorough cleaning to occur each afternoon, the building needs to be clear of students by 3:05 p.m.
  • Between 2:50 and 3:05 p.m. students are encouraged to transition to their after-school practice or leave campus immediately at 2:50.
  • General supervision will not be provided after 2:50 p.m. Students involved in athletics, fine arts, and other after-school activities are under the supervision of coaches, sponsors, etc.

FIRST WEEK SCHEDULE

Our first week of school will consist of five 8-period days. We will have a late start on Wednesday, August 16 (followed by periods 1-8). There will be no Chapel or House meetings on Thursday. Block periods for Wednesday/Thursday and House/Chapel gatherings will start the second week of school.

Robotics Information Meetings – August 16 & 19

  • A High School Robotics parent and student information meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 16 at 3:00 p.m. in Room 122.
  • A Middle School Robotics parent and student information meeting will be held on Saturday, August 19 at 9:00 a.m. in Room 122.
  • Team Training (all ages) will begin on Saturday, August 19 at 10:00 a.m. in Room 122. Any questions, email Megan Oyster at moyster@cvcaroyals.org.

Junior Royals Big Tent Event – August 18

Junior Royals and CVCA Summer Camp families are invited to a Big Tent Event on Friday, August 18 at Royal Stadium. Enjoy an evening of fun and football with carnival games, inflatables, treats, face painting, and more. Register HERE.

Royal Theatre Kick-off – August 23

The Royal Theatre will hold its season announcement meeting after school on August 23 from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel. All are welcome to come learn about The Royal Theatre, what we do, students involvement opportunities, and what shows we’ll be doing this year!

Parent Back-to-School Night – August 24

All CVCA parents are encouraged to attend this informative evening to meet your student’s teachers who will present overviews of their curriculum and classroom procedures. Although there is not time during Back-to-School Night for lengthy individual conversations, teachers will be happy to answer general questions regarding their objectives and goals.

You will follow an abbreviated version of your student’s class schedule. Please have your student fill out his/her Monday class schedule or download a copy fromFamily Portal (RenWeb) and bring it with you. We will start with first period at 7:00 p.m.

Sisterhood Club Meeting – August 30

All high school girls are invited to the first Sisterhood meeting on Wednesday, August 30. Join us to learn more about who we are, what we do, and when our meetings are. We’d love to see you there!

New Family Tailgate – September 8

Families of new students are invited to a FREE Tailgate event on Friday, September 8 at 5:30. Come meet other new families and CVCA staff. Game tickets are included. Bring the whole family! Register HERE.

  • 4:30 p.m. – Food Trucks available for dinner purchases.
  • 5:30 p.m. – Royals Stadium opens. Mingle, take part in the pre-game fun, and enjoy FREE sweet and salty snacks in your exclusive end zone area.
  • 7:00 p.m. – Kickoff! Get FREE entrance to the CVCA vs. Tuslaw football game and cheer on the Royals!

MIDDLE SCHOOL

Parent Coffees

Middle school parents and new high school parents are invited to join us for a coffee truck beverage and a time to get to know each other. Meet us outside the Rasnick Center!

  • 6th Grade – Monday, August 14, 8:15-9:15 a.m. (after Ignition drop-off)
  • 7th Grade – Tuesday, August 15, 9:30-10:30 a.m. (after Jumpstart drop-off)
  • 8th Grade and New High School Parents – Monday, August 21, 7:30-9:30 a.m.

MIDDLE SCHOOL SHOW CHOIR STARTS AUGUST 21

Middle School Show Choir is open to ANY 6th, 7th or 8th graders WITHOUT an audition. Rehearsals are Mondays after school from, 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. starting Monday, August 21. Students MUST attend the first rehearsal to become a member. The Fall Semester Rehearsal Schedule is available HERE

Free Sports Passes for all CVCA Students

Royals Football “Save My Seat” Program

You have the opportunity to reserve your own assigned and installed premium chairback in a prime location on the 50-yard line for the entire home varsity football season. Leave your gear at home, save time bypassing the ticket booth, assure you always sit in your favorite spot, and in the process, help support CVCA Football. With a strong renewal response from last year, new seat opportunities are very limited. Only two seats remain to be sold as a pair only. Reserve your seats and regular season home game tickets today with a $120 (per seat) contribution to “Friends of Royals Football.” All proceeds support the Royals Football program.
