2024-2025 CVCA Chapel Focus
Every year, CVCA chooses a book of the Bible to study during our weekly Chapel on Thursday mornings, which becomes our banner for the year. In the Old Testament, a banner was used to rally people to a cause. Even though CVCA students and faculty attend many different churches, live in different cities, and come from different backgrounds, ultimately, the banner we rally under is Jesus. We are united because of Him.
This year, we are studying the book of Exodus with the banner “That You May Know.” Exodus 29:46 encapsulates this banner well: “And they shall know that I am the Lord their God, who brought them out of the land of Egypt that I might dwell among them. I am the Lord their God.” In this verse, we learn the three-fold purpose for the things God accomplished in delivering His people:
- Who He Is (Lord their God)
- What He Has Done (brought them out of Egypt)
- Why He’s Done It (that I might dwell among them).
CVCA wants our students to gain more than head knowledge about Old Testament stories. Pray with us that through studying Exodus, students will experience Him more closely and see that, in many ways, the Israelites’ redemption is also each student’s personal story.
Planning ahead for your end-of-year taxes has benefits for you and CVCA!
Consider a Qualified Charitable Distribution: As you consider year-end giving and preparing your taxes, a Qualified Charitable Distribution may be right for you. After age 70, you can directly transfer funds to CVCA from your IRA, fulfilling your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) without increasing your taxable income.
Check out the Scholarship Granting Organization Opportunity: Ohio Grandparents have a no-cost-to-you scholarship funding opportunity! As you begin to prepare your taxes, consider donating to CVCA via a Scholarship Granting Organization. When you do, the state of Ohio will give you full credit for the donation on your next tax statement! All Ohio taxpayers can contribute, so please share this opportunity with friends, family, neighbors, and your church family. Details are available HERE.
As I close this newsletter, I thought I’d share a worship song that we sing in Chapel periodically – Abide by Aaron Williams. I pray you will be blessed as you listen or sing along today. The Lord be with you.
With gratitude and blessings, Jennifer Meybaum, CVCA Grandparents Club Coordinator
