A Big Royal Thank you!

In exciting news, CVCA reached the goal for October Giving with over $300,000 donated! This is the largest amount ever raised for fall giving. Gifts directly benefit the Annual Fund to help keep CVCA accessible for families seeking Christian education and to mission excellence through academic and spiritual programs and instruction that impacts every student.

Thank YOU for your being a part of the CVCA culture of generosity with your joyful giving. Praise the Lord joyfully with us for these gifts for His glory and the students’ good at CVCA!

Royals Excel in Competition

Royals Football will play in a Regional Semi-final for the first time this Friday, November 15. The Royals defeated Chardon 19-16 last Friday night to keep their season alive. It is also the first time the team has reached ten wins in a season. They have won ten straight games for an overall 10-2 record. CVCA will face Gilmour Academy on Friday at Twinsburg Tiger Stadium with a 7:00 p.m. kickoff. Tickets are for sale at ohsaa.org/tickets.

The CVCA Royal Technic Robotics Team brought home the BEST Award from the annual fall competition at Grove City College. This year’s theme challenged students to imagine what it is like to traverse the surface of the moon. The team’s robot, Nebula, drove on a canvas tarp over wooden obstacles, collecting needed items like power supplies in order to survive on the moon. The team’s drivers placed first in the driving competition. BEST Robotics also challenges each team to create a marketing presentation, a team exhibit, and an engineering notebook. CVCA did these tasks with excellence and finished in first or second place in each, bringing the overall BEST Award home. The team qualified for the regional championships in Colorado Springs in December.

The Talking Royals Speech and Debate Team recently competed against 23 other teams at Hudson High School. Katie Siff led the team with a second-place finish in United States Extemporaneous Speaking. Rachel Weygandt finished sixth overall in Congressional Debate, while Anna Trenta and Talie Koch took sixth in Public Forum Debate. CVCA entered middle school students in competition for the first time in over two decades, with Lucas Paraizo taking sixth in Extemporaneous Debate and the Public Forum pair of Khamya Allshouse and Mae Nye also taking sixth.

CVCA’s Academic Challenge JV and Varsity Teams recently won the North Division of the Summit County Academic Challenge League with a 7-0 record and will advance to the Gold Division. Several players also received individual recognition, including Will Helin, currently the league’s top-ranked varsity player (first out of 154), and Ben Choi and Talie Koch are top-ten JV players (second and sixth, respectively, out of 81).

Some Early Thanksgiving Thoughts

Let’s consider that gratitude is, at its core, a recognition of God’s goodness in your life. Thomas Merton said, “To be grateful is to recognize the love of God in everything. Every breath we draw is a gift of God’s love, every moment of existence is a grace. Gratitude, therefore, takes nothing for granted, is never unresponsive, and is constantly awakening to new wonder and to praise the goodness of God. For the grateful person knows that God is good, not by hearsay but by experience. And that is what makes all the difference.”

This month is the perfect time to be more intentional about being grateful for the big and little things. Write down or meditate on three aspects of His goodness that you are experiencing each day. Offer a prayer of gratitude in response. It can be as simple as, “Thank you,” or “I am grateful, Lord.” If you’d like to share your gratitude list, feel free to email me at jmeybaum@cvcaroyals.org.

 Grateful for you, Jennifer

“Every good gift, every perfect gift, comes from above.” James 1:17
