SCHOOL AND COLLEGE COUNSELING

Earning College Credit at CVCA Meeting – TONIGHT!

CVCA will still host an “Avenues toward College Credit” meeting on tonight, January 21, 6:00-7:00 p.m. in the Learning Commons for parents of students in grades 8-11. Students are also welcome to attend.

Is your student interested in earning college credits while enrolled at CVCA? Earning college credits during high school allows a student to enter college or university with advanced standing, often having already completed some collegiate general education requirements. In addition to the learning opportunities, earning college credits while in high school can provide significant financial savings. Many avenues to college credit during high school are affordable or free compared to the cost of traditional college tuition. A qualified CVCA student who strategically plans ahead and takes advantage of multiple credit-earning opportunities may earn college credits equivalent to a semester or even a year’s worth of college courses by the time he or she graduates from CVCA.

Opportunities to earn college credit at CVCA include Advanced Placement (AP) exams, College Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams, and dual credit opportunities (including some that may qualify for funding through Ohio’s College Credit Plus (CCP) program). While taking classes at a local university is also an option through the CCP program, it is not necessary for students to leave CVCA during the school day in order to participate and benefit from these programs. Come hear about the ways qualified students can gain college experience and credit at low or no additional cost while participating fully in high school life at CVCA!
