SCHOOL-WIDE ANNOUNCEMENTS

Important Traffic Update

Thank you for your patience as we work through traffic challenges at the start and end of each school day. We continue to encourage you that morning traffic will improve as families settle into routines for the school year.

That being said, we recognize the concerns around afternoon traffic. These problems are worsened by the construction project on Steels Corners, diverting all traffic to Wyoga Lake Road. Please know that we take this seriously and are in contact with the City of Cuyahoga Falls and Walsh Jesuit as all parties are looking for possible solutions for the next two months.

We hope to have an update after further discussion with the city later in the week. Please be patient, we know this has made for some long days, we hope to have more answers soon.

  • Due to the heavy traffic at the Middle School Entrance, middle school students may also utilize the new high school drop off location and enter through the Athletics side entrance.
  • Keep in mind the following drop-off and pick-up instructions, and note that the Rasnick Center is not a drop-off or pick up location:

Before School:

  • Students may arrive at school as early as 7:15 a.m. ALL students arriving between 7:15 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. should use the Royals Fieldhouse entrance.
  • If at all possible, students should arrive between 7:30 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. and proceed directly to their first class of the day.
  • All entrances will be open to students at 7:30 a.m.
  • Students who need to arrive before 7:30 a.m. on a Wednesday should use the Main Entrance.
  • Students who have parked their cars may enter at the Rasnick Center, but cars may not drop students off there.
  • Please do not drop off students at the main entrance after 7:25 a.m. as this space is reserved for school buses.

After School:

  • The same doors used for drop off may be used for pick up. Note that the Rasnick Center is not a pick up location.
  • For the safety of all students, it is critical that families pick up students as close to the 2:50 p.m. dismissal time as possible. If a student does not have an extracurricular practice, meeting, or rehearsal, they need to leave campus.
  • Between 2:50 p.m. and 3:05 p.m. students should transition to their after-school practice or leave campus at 2:50 p.m.
  • General supervision will not be provided after 2:50 p.m. Students involved in athletics, fine arts, and other after-school activities are under the supervision of coaches, advisors, etc.

Student Appearance Standards Update

Please note that the Student Appearance Standards have recently been updated: CVCA spirit wear, House t-shirts, and middle school grade-level shirts can be worn on both Thursday and Friday.

Please also note that white polos and white quarter-zips are NOT approved. Grey pants are also not permitted (only black or khaki).

Requesting Course Changes

If you need to request a course change or have a problem with your schedule, please contact your guidance counselor. No class additions or drops are permitted after Friday, August 23, 2024. Due to class balancing concerns, we cannot honor requests to change class periods – but remain in the same course – or change study halls/PRT.

Note From the Health Clinic

Attention Parents and Caregivers: We want to properly care for your student(s) while here during the school day. If your student is prescribed any medication for a condition that may need to be treated during the school day (diabetes, allergies, asthma, seizures, daily medications, etc.), please remember to bring the medication(s) to the Health Clinic along with all properly signed paperwork. Required paperwork can be found HERE under “Health Clinic.” If you have any questions, please email healthclinic@cvcaroyals.org.

Short-term Exchange Host Family Needed

CVCA will be hosting STEP (short-term exchange program) students from Brazil and Norway from September 12 to September 22 for our STEP program. While visiting CVCA, they will attend classes and school activities. We are in need of host families for the Brazilian students for the ten days they are here. They would stay over night at the host family’s home and the host family would be responsible for breakfast and dinner and rides to and from school. This an amazing opportunity for CVCA families. Questions? Contact Brenda Worth at bworth@cvcaroyals.org.

EDCHOICE SCHOLARSHIP ACCEPTANCE LETTERS

The state of Ohio has started sending acceptance letters to families for their EdChoice scholarships. CVCA is required to have a signed acceptance letter on hand for each student for the scholarship to be applied to tuition. Upon receipt of their EdChoice acceptance letter(s), families should check the box to accept the scholarship, then sign and return the letter to CVCA’s Business Office using this Submission Form.
