CVCA uses Canvas as our Learning Management System (LMS). In other words, Canvas is the digital hub of our classroom where upcoming assignments, grades, and resources are posted in one centralized, easy-to-access location.

Parents can access this information by creating an account and then linking their account to their child’s information via a pairing code. THIS VIDEO explains both the account creation process and how to generate a pairing code.

This is the website you’ll use to access Canvas once you have created an account: cvcaroyals.instructure.com/login/canvas. We recommend bookmarking the website for ease of access. Be sure not to include the “www” at the front of the address.

One of the strengths of Canvas from a parent and student perspective is that you can customize the amount of information you receive from Canvas and choose the method in which you receive that information. After you set up and login to your account, THIS VIDEO walks you through the process of customizing your notification settings.

There is a Canvas app for parents that can be downloaded to your smartphone (iOS or Android). You will have to search for “Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy” when you first access the app.

1. Class schedules will be ready to view and print in Family Portal around August 5, 2024. Families will receive an email when they have been posted. Once logged into Family Portal, click on “Student Information,” then “Schedules,” and then click on your student’s name. Please bring a copy of your schedule on your first day of school. 

If you have trouble registering or logging into Family Portal, contact tech@cvcaroyals.org.

2. Please review your schedule and the Academic Catalog to make sure all required academic subjects for your grade level are listed. Students who have eight classes and no study halls may want to consider dropping a class for a study hall, especially any student who might struggle a bit academically.

3. Once schedules are released, any class change request must be verified by a parent via a written note, email, or phone call. The last day to make schedule changes is Friday, August 23, 2024. To make any schedule changes, contact your school counselor.

4. We will not make any schedule adjustments for teacher preferences, study hall times, lunch period preferences, or any other changes not strictly necessary.

5. PRT (Personal Responsibility Time) is a study hall for high school students who do not have a status of academic watch, warning, or probation. PRT gives students a choice to go to a quiet study hall in the Cafeteria, Learning Commons, or Rasnick Center.

Before School – Students may arrive at school as early as 7:15 a.m. Students arriving between 7:15 and 7:30 a.m. should enter at the Royals Fieldhouse entrance. No other doors will be open before 7:30 a.m. If possible, students should arrive between 7:30 and 7:45 a.m. and proceed directly to their first class of the day. All entrances will be open to students at 7:30 a.m. (Drop-off information for Late-Start Wednesdays to come.)

After School – For the safety of all students, it is critical that families pick up students as close to the 2:50 dismissal time as possible. If a student does not have an extracurricular practice, club meeting, or rehearsal, they are asked to leave campus. Between 2:50 and 3:05 p.m., students are encouraged to transition to their after-school practice or leave campus. General supervision will not be provided after 2:50 p.m. Students involved in athletics, fine arts, and other after-school activities are under the supervision of coaches, sponsors, etc.

You created a Family Portal account in order to enroll your student. Family Portal is a great online resource which you can access at any time online to view the following information:

• Resource Documents – including our Student-Parent Handbook
• Student Information – including student grades, teacher contact information, homework, report cards, attendance, and schedule
• Your Family Information – including parent contact information and your preferences/settings
• Family Demographic Form which you can use to update your contact information
• Online access to your FACTS Tuition Contract as well as FACTS Grant and Aid

Log into your Family Portal Account at any time to access any of this vital information. Access Family Portal on the MY CVCA page on our website.

CVCA students participate in January sessions. Jterm 2025 will be January 6-10.

These sessions increase opportunities for learning and explorations that challenge our students in areas of interest and encourage deeper faculty-student relationships through enrichment electives, educational travel, mission trips, and Career Experience Opportunities (CEO).

The Middle School Jterm/Mterm program (grades 6-8) is designed to cultivate spiritual, educational, and personal growth in each student. Each middle school grade participates in a unified Jterm/Mterm experience allowing students a unique and developmentally appropriate time of experiential learning and class bonding.
